ACBN Practice Examination

The ACBN now offers a practice examination for interested professionals who wish to get an idea of what the examination is like. This practice examination consists of “Part II”; the 150 multiple choice questions. (Part I, the writing of 3 case histories, is a narrative and is best reviewed in class or by reviewing the textbook “How to Write Case Histories for the ACBN Exam” available through ACBN headquarters).

All questions have been researched with answers that have been collaborated with two independent sources. The questions represent the logistical percentage found in the delineation studies of topics and subjects to be covered on the exam.

The on-line test site is made up of two units. Unit one explains the practice exam and allows the examinee to take the actual test. Once the preliminary forms and fees are paid to the ACBN, you will be provided a login and password to take the test. You will be given the opportunity to decide when you want to take the exam:

1^st Quarter –January 1 – March 31.

2^nd Quarter – April 1 – June 31.

 3^rd Quarter – July 1 – September 30.

4^th Quarter – October1 – December 31.

Once all fees are paid, the examinee will have the whole or part of the 3 months (depending on when you want to start) to “roam” the site’s other informational areas.

To take the exam, the examinee will be prompted to “click” on “take the exam”. At that point, the clock starts and you will have 3 hours to complete the exam, as in taking the real test. Once finished with the test, the examinee “clicks” on “submit” and you are done.

The grade book posting will show the examinee (and only the examinee) their “grade” shortly thereafter by using their login and password.

Roaming the exam site – Unit 2

This area provides:

· Links to the working of the ACBN: its policies, procedures, Bylaws, the ACBN website, application forms, etc.

· A list of recommended textbooks where a number of questions originate from, or are appropriate study texts.

· A list of documents to share by either placing them on “favorites” on an examinee’s own computer, or downloading directly.

· The ability to view, print, or download suggested review articles and other textbook information.

· A free download of the ACBN’s “Candidate’s Handbook – abbreviated edition.

· A webliography; references to useful nutritional websites for both professionals and consumers. This is an interactive.
